Industrial Force: Hydraulic Cylinder Rosin Press SOP (10T - 30T)
This manual covers the high-pressure Dabpress hydraulic series, including the 10-ton Driptech, 12-ton Commercial, and 20/30-ton Industrial units. Precision hydraulic management is the key to consistent, pharmaceutical-grade solventless returns.
01. Load Capacity & Equipment Pairing
•High Amounts Loaded: 10-ton (20g) | 12-ton (28g) | 20/30-ton (36g+).
•Pre-Press Pairing: Use 30mm Cylinder Molds (dp-pm30s) for 7g loads or 2x4 Rectangle Molds (dp-pm4007s) for up to 14g pucks.
•Hydraulic Standards: Only pair with pumps and couplers rated for 10,000 PSI or higher.
02. Critical Setup & Air Bleeding Procedure
Before your first press, the hydraulic system must be primed for stability:
1.Connection: Attach the pump hose to the cylinder fitting. Ensure the quick coupler is finger-tight to prevent pressure leaks.
2.Bleeding the Air: Open the bleed valve on the rear of the hand pump two full turns. Hold for 5 seconds to release trapped air, then re-close fully.
3.Thermal Prep: Power on the PID controller. Set to 180-220°F (Flower) or 160-200°F (Sift). Lower temps preserve flavor; higher temps maximize return.
03. Calculating Material PSI (The Pro Formula)
To avoid blowouts and introduce non-essential oils, you must calculate the actual force at the puck:
•For 10-Ton Units: (Gauge PSI x 2.25) / Puck Surface Area = Material PSI.
•For 12-Ton Units: (Gauge PSI x 2.75) / Puck Surface Area = Material PSI.
•Target Pressure: Aim for 800-1200 PSI for Flower and 400-600 PSI for Sift/Fine material.
Expert Success Tip: If your parchment paper tears or stains through, you are using excessive pressure. A "tight feeling" on the handle is usually sufficient. Let the flow of the oil, not the strength of your arm, guide your pressure increases.
04. Success & Troubleshooting FAQ
•Pressure Loss? Ensure the release valve is tightly closed and bleed the pump again. Check that the 62% RH humidity level in your flower is stable.
•Preventing Blowouts: For fine materials, pre-heat the puck between closed (but not pressurized) plates for 20-30 seconds to liquefy the resin before squeezing.
•Collection: Use a cold plate from the freezer to stabilize the rosin for easier collection from the parchment.
Safety Warning: Excessive heat on the hydraulic system decreases seal life. Power off the PID controller immediately after use. Keep hands clear of the heated platens once pressure is engaged.
